My name is Heidi and I am a former Air Force Scientist turned military spouse, stay at home homeschooling mother of four.

Cake in the Morn was born when the kids decided they wanted to pretend to be a meteorologist   I thought a felt weather board set would be perfect, so I hopped online to find one and order one.

Needless to say, my Google skills were lacking or there wasn’t a decent weather felt board out there for sale.  So, I packed everyone up and we took a quick trip to the craft store.

The felt weather board set was born!

Shortly thereafter the kids started to ask for other types of felt games and stories.  Soon word got out and I created a store on Etsy to see if others might like some of the work we do.  Custom orders started flowing in, all of which were slowly added to the stash available for sale and that is where most of the ideas for the felt stories and wooden toys originate.

When my Gramma got wind of my Etsy store, she suggested I try writing children’s books.  I took her advice to heart.  It was autumn at the time and so my very first book, Autumn is Here, was inspired by the season and the activities we like to do here in our home.  Autumn is Here! was picked up by a local bookstore, Hooray for Books! and my writing career took off from there! Winter is Here and Spring is Here followed, along with another cute story Love is… and many other books are on the drawing board.  Stay tuned to learn more!
